Labels seek three-week extension for responding to new trial motion in Thomas-Rasset case

Citing the July 27 trial in the Joel Tenenbaum case, the record label plaintiffs have asked Judge Michael Davis for an extra three weeks to respond to Jammie Thomas-Rasset's Motion for a New Trial, Remittitur, and to Alter or Amend the Judgment. The motion indicates that Thomas-Rasset does not oppose the motion. It also indicates that the government has not yet decided whether to file a motion in support of the $1.92 million verdict; the government did file a brief in defense of the $222,000 verdict in Thomas-Rasset's first trial.

Assuming the motion is granted, the labels' brief would be due August 12, and Thomas-Rasset's reply August 19.

If you want to rant about how evil the RIAA and MPAA are, and how entertainment companies' employees and attorneys are bad people, there are plenty of other places for you to go.
